Reflections Stylist Profile | Emily McClaren Emily McLaren, Senior Manager of three Reflections salons in Yate, Bristol gives us the low-down on her career, fashion and the Queen’s hair! What has been the most exciting moment in your career so far? Winning Trend Vision UK ‘05 was definitely the best moment in my career as it really boosted my profile in the industry. Getting through to the world final and beating 800 other entrants was a fantastic feeling. Which famous person would you most like to style? I would have to say HRH the Queen as she has had the same hairstyle for as long as I can remember and I would love to get my scissors on her hair to bring her style back into the 21st Century!! The biggest fashion mistake you have ever made? In the 80’s, I had my hair cut into a mullet which was pretty horrendous and I wore a lot of neon clothes back then when it was all the rage. I also remember a certain paisley shirt I wore a lot then!! What does your average day involve? Running the salon, organising staff, chatting to clients and on certain days I train at the Skills Studio. What is the best part of your job? Definitely the hairdressing – having the ability to make someone look a million dollars when they leave the salon gives you HUGE job satisfaction. Your top beauty tip? Ever since I was young my mum has advised me to always use good quality products on my skin and, as with all things in life, you get what you pay for. Emily is available for cuts and colours throughout the week at the South Parade, Yate salon. Tel: 01454 318 890. |

Reflections prove a hit at Fashion Week.! Reflections proved a hit when they joined forces with The Mall, Cribbs Causeway for Fashion Week 2007. The Reflections stage was the main attraction within the Style Yourself Gorgeous Zone where visitors were treated to free curling and straightening, hair advice from some of the South West’s top stylists and watched live demonstrations showing fashion-savvy women how to achieve the latest looks based upon the “3 faces of Reflections”. Reflections own Salon Professional Specialist, Emma Middleton, was on hand to analyse hair with a Diagnostic Machine – a handy invention which magnifies the hair and scalp via a micro camera enabling Emma to solve their hair dilemmas by directing visitors to products best suited for their hair. Reflections ‘ handy-work could also been seen at the catwalk shows as part of the “real life” makeovers. 5 members of the public desperate for a change of style were hand picked from the mall and, with the aid of Reflections and GMTV’s Mark Heyes, were totally transformed. These 5 lucky ladies then showcased their new styles live on stage.
Jenny Parker, Salon Operations Director commented “It has been another great year for us at The Mall - hard work, but we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed it! To be able to offer a free consultation and Style-sampling service enabled visitors to try something new at no cost. The service was greatly received with many visitors trying curls (one of the 3 faces of Reflections) for the first time in years and proved a trip to Reflections really can change your life!” |
